A beautifully preserved 19th-century Russian colonial fort on the bluffs just south of Timber Cove. Fascinating history, sweeping coastal views, and easy walking trails right along the cliff edge. One of the most underrated spots on the coast.

Stretching 17 miles along the coast, this park includes some of the Sonoma Coast's most spectacular beaches and headlands. Bodega Head is a short loop hike out to a rocky promontory with wide ocean views — great chance of spotting gray whales. Doran Regional Park just south has a long sandy beach on the calm bay side, perfect for a walk or just sitting with the dogs.

Stand beneath 1,400-year-old coast redwoods towering over 300 feet. Cathedral-quiet, completely humbling, and one of the most peaceful places in California. An easy half-day from Timber Cove if you want a break from the coast.

Perched on the bluff above Jenner, River's End is one of those restaurants where the views compete with the food — and both win. Fresh seafood, a serious wine list, and sunsets that stop conversation mid-sentence. Reservations recommended.

Jenner's cozy waterfront coffee shop — great espresso, homemade pastries, and a porch right on the river. A lovely stop on the way back to the Bay Area on Sunday morning.

Cash only, picnic tables, Dungeness crab and chowder straight off the docks in Bodega Bay. A local institution — get there early before they sell out. One of those no-frills lunch experiences that you'll talk about for years.

A casual waterfront spot in Bodega Bay with a great menu and views over the harbor. Good option for a lunch stop before or after exploring the coast — slightly more sit-down than Spud Point, equally delicious.

The San Francisco Chronicle calls this "the most spectacularly sited tasting room in California" — and it's basically in our backyard. Estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with ocean views that are hard to beat. Advanced reservations required and they book up fast, so plan ahead.

Another stunning coastal estate just north of Timber Cove. Flowers makes world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and the setting is extraordinary. Reservations recommended.

The Russian River Valley wine region begins just past Guerneville. Williams Selyem, Kosta Browne, and dozens of other celebrated producers are all within a short drive. A great option if you want to spend a day exploring wine country — grab a tasting itinerary from the front desk at Timber Cove.
